The Srader Foundation recently pledged $50,000 for three years (for a total of $150,000) towards the building expansion campaign at Sunporch of Smith County.
Mark McClain, Srader Board Chairman, stated, “The Srader Foundation believes in the  great work that Sunporch of Smith County provides for seniors and others from our community.  We are excited to support the project and encourage others to consider giving as well.”
Sunporch of Smith County is a nonprofit organization that provides assisted living, skilled nursing, and long-term care to seniors and others in need through a small home, elder focused care model.
“We believe that our elders deserve to live their best life, and we strive to do that in a unique way for everyone.  We are passionate about our model of care and want even more elders to be able to benefit.  Our expansion will make that possible,” stated Shareece Hileman, Life Enrichment and Fundraising Director at Sunporch.
Sunporch of Smith County has a goal of raising a total of $1 million for an expansion that would add an additional 8 rooms to the small home side of the campus.  Since moving to the new campus almost four years ago, Sunporch of Smith County has remained 99.9% full. On average, Sunporch of Smith County has to turn away five (5) seniors each month that are needing immediate care because there is not a room available.

In addition to providing a great care option for seniors, Sunporch has a positive impact on the community economy by employing 35 full-time equivalent staff.  According to the Department of Labor, because of consumer expenditures and supply chain services (restaurants, housing, contractors, retail, etc) an additional 4.5 jobs are supported in the community because of Sunporch of Smith County.   This equates to nearly $14,000,000 in salaries to staff and $1,115,413 in additional compensation for community impacted jobs each year.

Hileman continued, “The Srader Foundation has been extremely supportive of our campus from the very beginning and understands Sunporch’s impact on the community.  One of our small homes is named the Srader Home following the donation given during the initial building campaign. Now as we embark on expansion, their support is a tremendous blessing. Through generous support from many donors, as well as the Srader Foundation, we have now raised or have pledges for $344,780 which is over 1/3 of our goal.”
